Diploma of Paramedical Science (Anaesthesia) (HLT50607)
Overview
This flagship qualification is designed for workers who provide assistance to the anaesthetist with the safe operation of equipment during induction, maintenance and completion of anaesthesia. There are no elective modules in this course and it is anticipated that students will complete this qualification in 12 months.

Each module addresses a separate area the anaesthetic officer’s role and will contain learning materials, a written assessment, workplace checklists and observation tools to ensure that all students complete the course with a valid and accredited set of competencies. Students are also required to complete a logbook of work to demonstrate exposure to a variety of clinical specialities and circumstances.
Duration of Study
Students are required to be employed in their chosen field of study to enhance their ‘on-the-job’ learning. They need to be supervised by a qualified staff member and working a minimum of 21 hours per week. It is anticipated students will take 12 month to complete this qualification.
Cost
The full cost of this course is $4000. This certificate is not eligible for funding as a traineeship in NSW. It is possible to undertake this qualification under a Recognition of Prior Learning pathway at a reduced cost of $3500 if your candidate meets the requirements of the program. You will be able to discuss these options with your ICM consultant.
