Certificate IV in Cast Technology (HLT41407)
Overview
This qualification is designed for those theatre technicians who are directly involved with application and removal of a variety of orthopaedic casts and prosthetics. This qualification has no elective modules and is offered as a Recognition of Prior Learning pathway only.

- Working Effectively in Health
- Communicating Effectively in Health
- Working Safely in Health
- Basic Cast Technology
- Advanced Cast Technology
- Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Applied Physiology
The student is required to prepare, in accordance with the ICM RPL package, a portfolio of evidence including:
- Logbook of Current Experience
- Workplace Evidence
- Employment History
- Training & Education History
- Portfolio of Evidence – documented evidence against each national competency unit
Duration of Study
Students are required to be employed in their chosen field of study to enhance their ‘on-the-job’ learning. They need to be supervised by a qualified staff member and working a minimum of 21 hours per week. It is anticipated students will take 6 months to complete this qualification.
Cost
The full cost of this course is $2000. This certificate is not eligible for funding as a traineeship in NSW.
