Diploma of Youth Work (CHC51408)

Overview

This qualification covers people with responsibility for the development and the outcomes of programs and services for young people managed through a range of agencies and designed to meet the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people. This work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and welfare agencies. The qualification is designed to ensure that policies and guidelines of the employing organisation are implemented and includes responsibility for direction and supervision of staff, contracting external agencies and/or management of specialist services.

Electives

Electives are created in accordance with the national packaging rules to best reflect the current needs of industry.  Your ICM qualification coordinator can discuss the suitability of each elective to your students.

  • Case Management

Duration of Study

Students are required to be employed in their chosen field of study to enhance their ‘on-the-job’ learning.  They need to be supervised by a qualified staff member and working a minimum of 16 hours per week.  It is anticipated students will take 12 month to complete this qualification.
